Unusable out of the box

I got this unit and was excited to get started with hydroponics but not today. The tubing that connected all of the emitters around the tip was split. It is cheap polyvinyl tubing and was split almost it's entire length. Hopefully someone can tell me the proper size tubing to order as a replacement. I would not recommend this product. The price is very high for what is in the kit. It's basically a custom 5 gallon bucket with a pump in the bottom.

Root Farm - Indoor Gardening

The Root Farm is a comprehensive indoor gardening product. Our kit came with a seed starting unit, lighting, and the Root Farm hydroponic garden. The seed starting kit was as you would expect, similar to other products, but sturdy and it worked well. This is an update for this unit.

It is sturdy and let me tell you it is heavy when filled with 6 gallons of water. You will not be moving it around. I have decided it takes up too much "real estate" and cannot easily sit around somewhere in the vicinity of using it in the kitchen if you have relatively small spaces. I will tell you that it does what it says it will do, but you are limited to what can be grown. We have certainly not tried something as large as a tomato plant as of yet. Wonderful Gardening

The root farm is a complete hydroponic growing system. The light is adjustable for the plants to continue to grow.The system contains seeds for growing,pods for planting and a seed tray. My plants germinated within the first week. These growing pods could then be transferred to a larger hydroponic container. The light system has the ability to be hung from above the large container in order to continue the plant growth. My criticism is that you can't regulate the light.

Works as advertised. Easy to use.

I got the Root Farm with the Root Farm seed starting kit that included a package of lettuce seeds so I grew those as my test crop. The Root farm only grows one to four plants so it's a really small garden. One large one to four small ones. I actually started 5 in case one didn't grow and since they all did I stuck two in one of the grow baskets and they both did fine. Good starter unit to try hydroponic growing

Setup was easy. instructions could be better. Good for small quantities of vegetables or flowers. Not easily moved when full as it weighs over 50 pounds.

Complete growing system for small amounts

This system works well enough but only allows for a limited number of plants. If you’re expecting to feed the family it won’t do the job but can provide fresh add-ins or herbs for your regular food. It can be a good learning experience for kids.

Great System!

This is an update to my initial review. Since then I’ve upgraded to 5 stars. In mid-October I transferred my lettuce plants to the hydroponic unit and cut my first lettuce leaves three days ago! It was enough for a small salad, but I grew it in a short amount of time! I wish there were more units to put into the hydroponic device but I’m enjoying the experience. Nice item for fresh produce grown indoors

I found the product's to be a bit confusing when I was trying to get started with the Root Farm Hydroponics system. I was confused about how many seeds or just one in each of the sphagnum moss plugs. I finally decided to place one seed per plug and I read later on where the instructions said seed not seeds per plug. It said to put 1/4 inch of water in the bottom of the tray but it has ridges so do I go 1/4 over the top of the ridges or in the valleys between them. There were 50 plugs and I final...
