General Hydroponics® pH Up is a base solution formulated with potassium hydroxide and potassium carbonate to raise pH to the proper level. pH control is essential for vigorous plant growth. Nutrient solution pH that is too high (basic), or too low (acidic), cannot be properly absorbed by plant roots. Incorrect nutrient solution pH can cause slow growth, sickly plants, and low yields. Our formulas are pH buffered to help growers maintain the optimal pH range. We recommend using pH Up sparingly. Add to your nutrient solution a little at a time, then test the pH. Repeat application, then test, until desired pH is achieved. The quantity necessary for pH adjustment will vary depending on the strength of the nutrient and the purity of the water used to mix the nutrient. The recommended pH for most plants is 5.5 to 6.5. Use General Hydroponics® pH Test Indicator (sold seperately) for testing nutrient pH.

This kit includes everything you need to grow: a Super Sprouter® 7" Ultra Clear Vented Dome with built-in light track channels, Super Sprouter® 18" high output T5 fluorescent grow light designed for the channeled dome, Super Sprouter® Double Thick 10" x 20" tray with no holes, and the Art of Propagation booklet, containing expert advice for starting seedlings and cuttings. With the RapidRooter® Plug Tray, you can hold up to 50 RapidRooter® plugs (included in kit), a unique seed starter plug derived from peatmoss. The air-to-water ratio within the plug matrix promotes root growth. For best results, soak plugs in water or mild nutrient to re-hydrate. Place seed or cutting in the center hole of the plug. Keep about a quarter inch of water in the bottom of the tray to maintain plug moisture. When roots appear, the RapidRooter® plugs are ready to be transplanted.

Stabilize your nutrient pH with General Hydroponics® pH Up and pH Down. pH is important because it affects availability and absorption of several of the 16 atomic elements needed for plant growth. Maximum absorption of these elements is found at pH readings 5.5 to 6.5. When pH falls below this range many of the macroelements (NPK) have less availability, and absorption of the micronutrients can reach toxic levels. pH Up is a base solution formulated with potassium hydroxide and potassium carbonate. Add a little at a time when your nutrient pH is too low in order to raise it to the proper level. pH Down is an acid formulation that uses phosphoric acid to lower the pH. Always start out with one milliliter of pH Up/Down per gallon. Wait 15 To 30 minutes, and test your water again. You will usually only need 1 to 2 ml of pH Up/Down per gallon of water. You may need additional pH Up/Down if you have hard water.
