These used to be $10-12 a riser, and were double sided. One side had a stainable wood veneer, and the other had a paintable white veneer. Now, the risers are made from thin scraps of poplar. They bow horribly out of the box. Add paint, more bowing. Might just nail these and not assist them with glue since they’re warping from a coat of paint. Wouldn’t recommend

Not worth the price, I purchased 13 and 7 of them were cracked due to how thin the material is. Due to the packaging you can’t really inspect for damages prior to purchasing. They are also not square.

Saved my stairs!

one day I decided to pull up the carpets on my stairs only to discover how beat up the original hardwood stairs were. An online search of how to fix this is how I found Retro Risers! Lowe’s Flooring Customer Services Sucks

The product and the installation was great. However, the customer service was very disappointing. Especially I was promised $500 rebate for floor installation and given a wrong rebate form. The rebate was rejected and have been running to the stores and calling the rebate customer service any number of times but to no avail. This is frustrating and terrible way a customer is treated.

These were garbage!

We bought them because they were primed and meant to be risers. We thought this would be the best way. We noticed they were slightly bowed in the store but they were ALL that way so we didn't think too much about it. We put in 3 risers using the recommended adhesive. Warped after painting.

I was planning on installing these along with the Retrotread treads. These had to be sanded down as the primer finish was not smooth at all. There is a pretty visible line where the pieces are joined together. I was ready to live with having to sand them and prep them but after applying 1 coat of paint they warped pretty badly after about 1 hour (the painted side expanded considerably). I guess if they were glued and painted in place they might have not warped but they are useless at this point....

I ordered these in-stock risers online for easy pickup. Once out of the box I discovered they were made from pieces of poplar. The next issue was the extremely poor primer. All 14 were not ready for painting. Even after sanding, re-priming and one coat of semi gloss paint it was easy to tell the pieced together poplar was not allowing a good finish.
