Great solution to a problem
It works to remedy old windows with cut pully ropes

Window Sash Spring
Works. Used hammer to compress spring for proper tension to allow raising and holding up window sash. Installed on bottom of sash, because of groves in aluminum frame higher up. Applied a smear of white grease to ease initial use.
Wood Window Friction Spring - Too big
I couldn't use the spings I bought because they were much biiger than I imagined from the picture. I thought all friction springs were closer to the size that comes with the Prime Line counter balances. No biggie ... the job got done!!
