What Customers Are Saying
The product is generally well-received, with many users praising its performance, power, and value. It is described as compact, portable, and easy to use for a variety of DIY tasks like inflating tires and using brad nailers. However, some users have experienced issues with the compressor not holding pressure, component failures, or it being underpowered for heavy-duty applications. Overall, the product seems suitable for homeowners and DIYers, but may not meet the needs of professional users.

All the Porter Cable C2002 compressors have a design flaw. Mine broke on the second use, and apparently it's a widespread problem. The regulator has a part made of plastic that breaks easily. There is no cheap fix because Porter Cable does not sell the little piece of plastic by itself. You have to buy the whole assembly. You'll know the piece is broken when you turn the regulator and nothing happens...no pressure registers on the second gauge. If you search online, you will find dozens of compl...
Excellent Compressor with Caveat
I'm a general contractor who often runs several crews, and this is one of the compressors we deploy in the field. It easily supports two guns working simultaneously, for framing and trim applications, and is really easy to carry around. Out of the box, however, the pressure release valve leaked so badly, the thing could not build up and retain its pressure at all. Reading the reviews and fixes online, it seems that this is a very common problem. After tinkering around with it and not being ab...
Easy to handle compressor does the job
Purchased this at full price to use for my finish nailer and putting up 2400 lf of V-match pine in our cabin up north. Started right up out of the box and stopped at 150PSI as it should. It was a little louder than I had hoped, but it does say it runs at 80Db so I kind of expected it, but inside it just sounds a little loud. I used it for several days with the regulator set to 90PSI and then lowered it to 80PSI as my nails were going in just a little deeper than I wanted. Cycle time was pretty l...
A textbook cost reduced design..
Pros: High Tank Pressure, Portable, Initial Purchase Price Cons: Marginal Pressure Switch, Universal Brush Motor, Loud, Light Duty Piston, Drawn Cylinder Best Uses: Home Use, Limited Lightweight Use Describe Yourself: Professional Bottom Line: No, I wouldn't recommend this to a friend I borrowed a C2002 unit a few years ago when installing rosewood flooring and needed to run my nailer at ~120PSI. Recently I found a C2002 at a local HD on a $99 seasonal sale. I did a quick tear-down and found th...
Tried Twice, Both Failed
I purchased this air compressor on 01/03/15 to use in airing up car tires, bike tires, etc... I wasn't able to try the compressor until 01/13/15. At that time, the air compressor would build pressure to about 120-130 PSI and then the safety valve would pop open and it would drop pressure to about 60 PSI. Thinking it was a fluke, I returned it and got another one (same day). The second would hold pressure fine, but when I tried using it, I'd get an initial "push" of air (not strong) and within 3-...
Don't Purchase
1. Drain Valve Leaks and needed to be replaced shortly after purchase 2. Regulator Failed shortly after purchase and would not allow compressed air out of the regulator manifold. Cheap plastic parts in the regulator failed as well as the aluminum casting stripped where the plug threads into the casting. Very poor quality parts used in the assembly. 3. I want my money back but I am sure it is out of warranty… Serial Number: 2961661501 4. Can’t get spare parts, found some on EBay, the regulator is...
Purchased four in a row, all of them leaked.
The first one would cut off before reaching 150psi and then immediately leaked pressure. I took it back to Lowe's and picked up another one. This one cut off at 150psi correctly but then leaked down to 140psi within a few minutes. I went back to Lowe's again and exchanged it for a third one of the same model. Out of the box it did the same thing as the second one. Once again I took it back to Lowe's for a refund. This time I decided to try another brand so I picked up the Bostich 6 gallon 150psi...
Great Air Compressor
Have used this compressor for 1 month and so far no problems. Only job has been to power a 21 gauge Porter Cable framing nail gun. Gun requires 120 psi which is well within this compressor's ability. 6 gallon tank requires the compressor to re-pressurize about every 10 nail shots. Yet have never had to wait for the compressor to provide pressure. NOTE: I am a first time compressor user so I followed the directions explicitly. The directions are full of warnings and hazard notices however the ope...

So far, so good.
I've read many reviews on this product and everyone had the same complaint. The fix videos on YouTube were all similar and I realized it could be easily repaired with minimal cost. I contacted Porter Cable about this recurring problem and they assured me the plastic piece behind the regulator adjustment knob that has been breaking after a short time has been upgraded to "heavier plastic". Many people had this problem but for the cost I thought it was still a good value. No leaks anywhere and it ...
Verified Pro
Ok...it's a portable, but it blows like a big dog.
150psi, good reserve and small enough to carry around. Also it recovers quickly. It's not the big tank I had before but it's hard to tell the difference. I haven't run my impact on it yet but I believe it will do it. I blew out the garage and cleaned all my ac filters and it worked just like my Craftsman big tank model that died last week. I aired up tires as well by carrying it around to each wheel. That was nice. So far I'm real happy with it and the price was right. At $99 It beat out anythin...
