What Customers Are Saying
The product received mixed reviews. Some customers found the applicator pad durable and effective at spreading stain evenly, making the staining process easier and quicker. However, many reported issues with the pad shedding fibers or hairs that got embedded in the wood, requiring extensive sanding. Others found the pad soaked up too much stain, leading to uneven application and visible overlap marks. Several reviewers also noted the pad's poor quality, with it tearing or falling apart during use. The consensus seems to be that the product may work well for some, but has significant quality and performance issues that make it unsuitable for many customers' needs.

Bought for staining my deck and it shed horribly. Little hairs from the pad everywhere. Took them back and used a rag.

Awful - do not use
The pad that came with the arm worked OKAY on staining our deck. It held too much stain & made overlap spots very visible. It also got super chewed up (even though the packing says it won’t rip)… I got half of our deck stained with one pad before having to replace. The replacement pad was total trash. Tiny little hairs everywhere & also got ripped/chewed up. Our deck boards are less than a year old & not yet that worn… huge waste of money. Get the Baer pads instead
Nope. I ain't a fan, not even a little bit.
It said it was good for staining but that isn't true. I used with the Polyshades stain it left tiny fibers all over the wood. Had to wait for it to dry and then do an excessive amount of sanding to get the small bits off. Ruined the whole 2 boards I put it on. Thankfully I hadn't gotten any further than that with my shiplap project.

DO NOT BUY THESE PADS.
These are horrible. Using for deck stain, as designed, and all the fuzzy hairs starting coming off immediately, and got worse and worse. I even switched pads (I bought 4) thinking the 1st was just a bad apple, but the 2nd was just as bad. I aborted my project and went back to my other brand, and no problem. Now I will need to re-sand and re-do the first section of deck to get all the fuzzy hairs removed.

Woodmates Stain applicator - poor quality
I’ve been using a roller to apply stain to my dock. Saw this product and thought it might be a better option. Unfortunately, as soon as I began spreading the stain, I noticed hundreds of tony hairs/fine bristles on the stained wood. I used it on a few more section and the same thing happened. I examined the pad and noticed the hairs were coming from it. Package claimed it was food for all stains. Not true. I threw it in the trash and went back to the roller.

NO KNEES NECESSARY
thin, sponge-like the foam might be better for a smooth surface. The foam was chewed up by the occasional deck screw and left bits is sponge in the stain. It was easy to load. I found it awkward to use the beveled edge to stain between the boards. It was easy to use a standard pole so that it wasn’t necessary to kneel on the deck.

Not For Everyone
For me it soaked up too much stain and left dark spots. I also used at least one gallon more than I needed if I would have used a brush.
