GET AND USE FLATHEAD STEEL SCREWS TO attach anchor to bottom of wooden post, especially if sliding decorative mail post sleeve down over the wood post and attached ground anchor saddle. Galvanized steel LAG BOLTS PROVIDED WITH KIT each extend out 1/4" so any mail post sleeve used must be 1/2" wider than post to fit over. Our lag bolts ended up snapping and breaking anyway after attaching them to post and anchor saddle, leaving 3/4" from breaking point including lag bolt head. TIP: Carefully wat...

Also buy 5 or more #14 2.5 inch wood screws
Very difficult to keep it vertical. The heads on the included screws stuck out too far for the metal mailbox post to fit over them. Had to buy #14 2.5 inch wood screws to get everything to fit. If I were doing it again, I’d dig a hole for a 4x4.
