Sturdy but poor Quality Control

These are nice looking, sturdy, Oak Shaker coat pegs. These come one to a package despite Lowes' website stating that there are two per package. The main problem is the inconsistent diameter of the (round) tenon. Some are conical in shape and vary from top to bottom by as much as 0.6 mm. Between pegs, the tenons vary in diameter by as much as 1.5 mm. This makes them either way too loose in a 0.5" hole or too large to be inserted. One/pkg, not Two/pkg; not in stated location

Went to local store to pick up some of these this morning. Found out they were not located where the app said they were -- not on Aisle 50, Bay 4. Clerk finally helped me find them on Aisle 46. The specs on this page say "2 per package" just like the non-oak hardwood said. The non-oak version is 2/pkg @ $2.98/pks, but the oak version is 1/pkg @ $2.48. Looks like excellent package but just incorrectly labeled and located.

Not well sanded

Was glad to find these at the store, but disappointed with how rough the surface finish is. They are not sanded smooth and require a lot of sanding if you are going to stain or paint them. Didn't expect to have to do that much work on them, having bought other brands that required parctically none.

Using as a landing rod for bird house. Worked great. Not available at THD.
