patched a 18" x 16" hole in the bathroom where a bad mounting job of a pedestal sink had created a mess. cut out the rough area and then some, put some blocking in the wall for future support, and put a new piece of gyp bd in the hole. i have never done in "mud" work, so i watched a few videos on YOUTUBE to see what i could learn. the patch turned out like new, after a few coats of the "mud", sanding after each coat. you can't tell any "tape" was used.
