I’ve owned this miter saw for several years and I’ve never been able to make straight cuts with it. When I align the fence for a straight cut it’s off by the time you extend it all the way. Don’t even think of using the 45deg angle cut, it’s even more off. I’m past the three year warranty so I’m stuck with an awkward boat anchor.
Dusty saw
This saw works well enough but it throws dust everywhere. The bag that is supposed to collect dust does not collect anything. I have even connected a vacuum to it and it still throws dust everywhere. I have had other miter saws that did not have this issue.

The saw itself is packed with features you would not expect at this price point. Miters up to 60*. Dual bevel. Sliding. All adjustments are on the front of the saw. But be mindful about changing the blade. It’s a finicky process that can open up a potential disaster as happened to me the first time I used it. This review is for model SM2518LW compact 10" 15-amp dual bevel. Which is important because the reviews here are not for just this saw model. It seems like any kobalt miter saw can land here. Basically rendering the entire review process meaningless from a customer standpoint. I had to replace the stock blade almost immediately because it wouldn't even cut 1/4 round without chipping and pulling. The dual bevel does not lock. It wobbles out of 0 with little pressure. Great bargain. Love that all the controlling is done from the front of the saw. Miter and bevel are right there and easy to find. Adjusting the saw is easy and was pretty much true out of the box. The blade change is a bit fiddly, but there are workarounds. Overall, outstanding especially considering the price.
