What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this garbage disposal for its quiet, efficient performance and straightforward installation. Most highlight that the unit grinds food waste quickly without clogging, with many noting it runs significantly quieter than older models. Installation is consistently described as easy, often completed in under 30 minutes. Strong brand loyalty stems from previous units lasting 10-25 years, with many customers on repeat purchases. A small number report noise concerns or mechanical issues, but these remain isolated compared to widespread satisfaction and recommendations.

According to the instructions "the disposal will rotate freely to align plumbing..." It does not. It only turns about a 1/4 inch. So you have to align the sink drain, the disposal, and plumbing all at the same time. On the old disposal the flange rotated freely to simplify the process. I have installed a number of disposals and never had this issue. It just makes the installation a pain in the rear.

20+ Years on original model, easy replacement with new unit
Our 'new' house had a Badger 5 disposal installed and I knew it was original with the house (20+ years old), so I put a water leak sensor in the cabinet. The sensor recently alarmed when the disposal finally rusted through and started leaking. Having some experience with Insinkerator brand, I knew the installation would be simple -- disconnect the plumbing, twist and drop the old unit, and then lift and twist the new unit into place, and then re-connect the plumbing. Very nice to not have to mes...

Not long enough lasting
Bought this about 4-5 years ago(not really sure about the exact time frame). Rusted through the bottom, which is the same as what was replaced before. Though, I'm not entirely certain it's not due to the corrosiveness of our water where we live. Either way, I would expect longer life from this product.

Badger 5 Half Horsepower Disposer Reinstall
Bought this Badger 5 to replace the same model I've had for 8 years which began leaking water from the bottom. Quick and easy to reinstall as long as you use the existing upper sink ring already in place. Then you only have to attach the new unit and reattach the plumbing lines. Always try to replace the defective disposer with the same model to avoid having to do any replumbing. Quick and easy. Anyone can do it.

Easy Installation
I bought this as a replacement for my 11 year old Badger 1. A bit disappointed that the Badger 1 only lasted 11 years before leaking out of the bottom, so hoping that the Badger 5 lasts a bit longer. I selected this product because it seemed like it would simplify the installation. And it definitely did. I am not a very handy person, but the replacement was quite easy. The only trouble I had was once hung the new unit on the flange, it seemed like the discharge port was not going to line up w...

Sold by My Plumber
I purchased InSinkErator Badger 5 disposal because the one that had come with my new home started leaking. I will be honest, this review is as much about the Insinkarator that was installed by the builder of my home (which is only 4.5 years) as it is about the new one that I purchased directly from my plumber (it is the brand that their company carries on their trucks). I have owned homes for most of my adult life and I am 62 this year. I have lived in homes at times for just a few years before ...

Fairly Easy Replacement for Burnt-out Unit
We bought an exact replacement for a burnt-out Badger 5, figuring that not having to install a new flange on our sink would make things simpler. Installation was a bit difficult for me; lying half under the sink on my bad back, supporting the unit with one hand while trying to get everything aligned proved to be a challenge and took much more time than it should have. Better illustrations in the instructions, as well as a paint mark on the unit to match up to a paint mark on the flange would hav...

The Badger insinkerator is very handy
I really have no other disposal to compare my Badger 5 with so I have to say I am satisfied with its performance. I like that installation was easy. The step by step instructions with diagrams are so clear, I think anyone could install it if just replacing one to the existing neck piece under the sink. I went through 2 badgers in 17 yrs., I think because I did not know, initially, that I had options clearing clogs/obstructions, resetting using different methods. I thought once it stopped grindin...
