IRWIN Hanson 2-Pack Carbon Steel 2-3/8-in Screw Extractor

Great Product

Works like I hoped

Effective

I was able to extract 3 sheared-off thermostat housing bolts which were in my engine block Took about 10 minutes total.

It broke.

The extractor bit broke the first time I tried to use it. I think this one had a flaw in the casting. I returned it.

Drill Bit is Normal, Right-Handed

Seemed like a great idea, but was disappointed that the included drill bit was a regular bit, not a left- handed bit. Did not actually try this out.

Good but Things you need to know

Nowhere on the package does it tell what size extractor to use with what size screw. That is hidden on the website. I suspect many people with problems are using the wrong extractor. Also it is important to use the right size bit which will be an oddball size so the combo pack with bit is worthwhile. Since an extractor covers a range of sizes, you may have to drill much deeper than you expected. If it is not getting a bite, drill deeper, try, drill deeper, try again. At the right depth, it will ...

Buy these before you need them

Purchased this and another size to remove a stripped screw after a speed bit failed to get the job done. I should have bought these from the start and not fiddled with other hacky ways to extract a stripped screw. They made short work of a stripped Phillips head. Without this tool I never would have been able to remove an old, tired ceiling fan. Thanks Hanson!
