There is a foam liner inside the lip of the lid that rests on the surface of the box. The four latches provide enough locking force that the foam is pressed against, providing a secure lock and prevention of insects getting inside.

Item damaged - difficult to return
The top container was broke with the latches not attached and the holes cracked where the latches would attach, bottom bowed does not sit flat. Contacted customer service and they won't provide a shipping label to return the item. Must go to the store. Contacted the manufactuer and they haven't returned my call. Not made very well - foam on lid to seal the container is not attached to the lid but lays loose.
Too fragile to have shipped
Ordered these to store PLA filament and after several delays due to Fed Ex, they showed up with 2 out of the 3 busted up at the corner. Box was not banged up but the containers sure were. just an addendum, this is the stupidest website, I have to enter a nickname to post this, OK, I'll use my first name. Must be 4 characters, not 3, like my name is spelled, seriously lowes?

Good product value. Good customer service. My order shipped missing 4 blue latches out of 12 boxes. I contacted customer service and they asked me if I wanted reimbursement or replacement. I told them to just ship me 4 more latches which they did. The latches arrived promptly and I installed them. No hassle, no problem. I would have given a 5 but I did have to get missing latches.

I purchased them for wood pellets. They hold 40 lbs perectly. The seal in the lid keeps them dry too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sturdy box that will hold a standard amount of files. Seem to be able to hold the weight of 4 if stacked on top of one another. Lid easily pops on and off. More color options would be nice i like black because hard to see into.
