Chocolate Persimmon bears fruits at a young age, so you'll enjoy deep orange non-astringent fruits with sweet, chocolate-colored flesh sooner when they appear in the fall. Growing 20 to 25 feet tall, the tree is very ornamental. Foliage emerges lime green in the spring, turns dark green in the summer and orange in the fall. Chocolate Persimmon requires less than 200 chill hours in order to produce fruit, and is tolerant of heat and humidity, making it a good choice for the South.
