The ONLY fastener to use in exterior applications. Yes, they are relatively expensive but well worth the price and Lowes' brand has the star head and each container comes with a new bit. They have a good selection of lengths also...highly recommended.

Trim screws
These little screws saved me a lot of money. The western cedar trim on my porch was coming apart at the seams. Originally assembled with finishing nails, they were failing everywhere. I bought one package of these to see if I could salvage the lumber. Much to my surprise they closed the joints on the old cedar and did not split the super dry wood. Bought several more packages to finish the job.
