General Tools & Instruments 6.50-in Stainless steel Folding Ruler

Good quality but it doesn’t work for me

I bought this compass so I could scribe trim boards to the wall. I didn’t realize that the screw that holds it in position would get in the way and hit the wall. If the screw was the other direction it would be good for what I intended to use it for. If your drawing circles it works great.

Doesn’t stay firmly open

This compass only has a spring to hold it open so if you’re scribing it’s easy to mess up if the thing collapses. In an awkward spot on a ladder holding a board you can’t always hold it so carefully.

Buy another Compass

Very limited with tensioner not reversible. Was covered in an oily substance.

It’s a compass!

Does exactly what it’s supposed to. Simple, no-frills, no batteries. What more do you need?

Performance is adequate, if used for often, thumbscrew wears out, still lasted 4 years.

Returning

This did not work for me. I needed a larger compass. Also I could not figure out how to measure and lock it in. That may just be me.
