One of the best smart switches
This switch works amazingly well. It also is compatible to work with 3 way setups. To use it with 3 way wiring, you must get an additional add-on switch, which GE also makes, for $20. Both switches are sold at Lowes. I used the 3 way setup in my kitchen and the two switches together work very well.
Linking to Google Home
These GE-Z-Wave-Iris devices link fine to Google Home with on caveat - if you have a device installed and it is linked to Google Home and you want to add another Iris device you have to "Unlink" your present device(s) in order to add another Iris device, then link them all back again. Other than that issue, it works great with Google Home.
Connects and disconnects randomly
I have 2 of these GE switches in my home. Have had them installed for less than a year now. I get phone notices very frequently that the switch has disconnected....then hours later it reconnects. I get this for each of my switches at random times. They worked the first 6 months flawlessly, but now they are not as reliable. I love my system, but I'm a bit disappointed as these are hard wired and I'm not an electrician. Am in the market to add switches to my home, but not sure if I should anymore...
Your wiring must be reconfigured for 3way/4way use
These work great, but can be quite confusing for the average home owner if replacing 3- or 4-way switches. Regular 3-(or 4-)way switch wiring uses two power wires going to/through every switch. (Ignoring grounds and neutral for simplicity, for two 3-way switches, a pair of wires goes between them. One at a time is "hot", the other is not. Flipping the switch at the "power" end changes which wire is "hot". Flipping the switch at the "output" (light) end, changes which wire the output is connected...
Awesome
Easy to install, at least for me, 15 yr electrician. Anyway, it links right up with my pulse system and now my lights are on a schedule. Never have to forget about my porch lights again. Also set one up in the kitchen so the lights come on automatically at night when the garage opens. No more walking into the dark with full hands again.
Perfect for a smart home
purchased a home and completed remodeled the house adding these switches throughout. couldn't be happier! Alexa can turn on any light I ask and pairs easily to the wink 2. All I will buy!
Great way to go Z-Wave
I have 6 of these and can't stress how incredibly easy it is to install compared to other Z-Wave solutions. If you can replace a switch you can install this. The setup is simple the devices are very reliable and should you ever have a problem you don't have to pull them out of the wall to factory reset them. At the price, i'm not sure why you would buy anything else.
Works great with SmartThings
I have about 12 of these scattered about the house and they all work flawlessly with SmartThings. Each one paired in seconds and has stayed bonded to my hub for the last year or so without fail. My only complaint is the slight delay with the dimming version. It takes a second to reach full brightness. The non-dimming version does not have this issue.
Excellent Z-Wave Switch
I have a couple dozen of these in my home. All of them work flawlessly with my Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 + Home Assistant. Although there is a slight delay (perhaps half a second) between pushing the button and the relay activating, you really don't notice it after a couple days of usage.
1 second delay for relay switch?
Installation was straight forward, however once I started to use the device, noticed a 1 second delay between pressing the switch and the relay triggering. Not long, but kind of weird. I have a levitron switch which is instantaneous.
