GE 4.5 cu ft Washer

There is a lot I like about this GE 4.5 cu ft washer. I don't like the new ones that are all digital and make selections for you. While this one has digital read outs, it's pretty flexible in allowing you to choose your own settings. The color (they call it diamond gray) is beautiful; looks sleek and modern. I also like the fact it has an agitator. I would have rated this a 5start but for the fact it is a bit noisy. My washer/dryer are located in the hallway in a laundry closet with bifold doors...

Engineered Poorly

Terribly engineered washing machine. Always out of balance, and when it spins normally it has a terrible squeeking noise and the basin actually hits the side of the washing machine. It should never have been engineered with the ability for the basin to ram the sides of the washing machine. Also any washing machine should use slow close valves to reduce water hammer. I have 2 arrestors on each supply line and still have water hammer.

Not a good washer.

My washer is just a little over 2 years old. We’ve had a lot of trouble with it. We’ve had to get the lid locking mechanism replaced, new hot/cold control board, new lid, and now the newer lid is broken. All of that under the warranty within the first 6-8 months or so. I would not recommend this product, or GE in general. Will someone from GE reach out to me to see if this issue can be rectified?

Did not met my expectations

It started rusting inside , never had a washer do that before. Top got small cracks around the glass( progressed as time went by not sure why) and after only a few years of having it stopped spinning clothes out , did everything but spin! Was the shortest time I’ve ever had a washer before it started falling apart. I had second hand older washers that lasted longer and o have never had one start rusting on inside . Paid a lot of money for it and would never do again

We love it!

3 days after my handyman husband's hip replacement our 20 year old Whirlpool died. Yay! I chose this model because of the dimensions. The washer and dryer are located in our mudroom and we needed one that fit. This is a great washing machine except for 1 problem. Washing any type of blanket needs supervision because the load becomes unbalanced and makes the machine wobble and shut down the cycle. JUNK

Product has been junk from day one. Looking at reviews, they have been trouble. Water starts filling but lid want lock so water drains. If by chance it does fill it never balances the cloths out so it get unbalance. So I have had this machine since July 2025 and have been baby sitting it ever since to even get a load washed. JUNK JUNK JUNK

So far so good.

Have only used the washer a few weeks, but so far am very pleased. Large drum holds lots of clothes. As other reviewers have noted, the auto water level sensor doesn't even cover the clothes with water, but so far I feel clothes somehow come out clean and fresh smelling. I am still dubious, however, and will continue to monitor that aspect. Controls are easy to navigate.

Efficient and convenient.

This GE 4.5 cubic feet capacity washer machine is big enough to handle regular washing needs of small family. Controls are simple and self-explanatory. Clear top lid is very convenient feature and helps to control the distribution of load. So far, works very good, not too noisy and washes clothes pretty well. Recommend.

Does the job

I am tired of wasting money on high end washing machines that don’t last even three years. This was about the cheapest acceptable washer I could find. This model is LOUD, clunky and feels cheap but it does the job. I really like that you can control the amount of water used in each load. The control panel is simple so that’s helpful for Grandmas & teens figuring out how to use the machine without needing a PHD. I hope I can get a few years out of it at least.

Major balancing issues

This is about the most frustrating washing machine I've ever owned. When it comes to heavier things like blankets, I hate it. We'll get the good out of the way, with normal circumstances, it does a good job cleaning everything. The features are great, being able to set a timer and customize the cycles, that's all good.
