Gray-green onyx with shifting clouded tones, or dark gray travertine with natural voids and banding — each cut to the same low, close-fluted form. Onyx or travertine, cut into a low, wide lidded box — close, rounded flutes running the full length of every face, the lid's ribbed profile matching the body so it seats back without a gap. Corners softly rounded. Artichoke Green onyx is pale gray-green, polished and clouded; Fossil Gray travertine is dark gray with open voids and banding across the face, left raw. The ribs give the fingers a grip without a knob, so the lid has nothing on it to interrupt the line. The two stones are opposites: Artichoke Green onyx is polished and clouded, Fossil Gray travertine is left raw with its voids open — one reflects, the other absorbs. The ribbing is identical on both.
Material: Fossil Gray Travertine — dense, porous stone with natural voids and a raw, geological surface
Measurements: 10″ L × 5″ W × 3″ H
Color: Fossil Gray Travertine — dark gray ground with light gray and cream banding running across throughout
Surface: Fossil Gray Travertine — openly porous with natural voids — unpolished, raw to the touch
Weight: 10 lb
Care: Wipe both variants with a soft, dry cloth after handling; keep away from oils and acidic substances — citrus, spirits, and vinegar will work into both stone surfaces
Natural Variation: Each box is cut from a different section of stone — the clouding in the onyx and the void distribution in the travertine shift from piece to piece, placing the pattern differently on every face
