A one-touch silence/test button makes it easy to operate. Its built-in 10-year battery will provide continuous power for the life of the detector and continues to protect during power outages. As stated in the manual under weekly testing warning, actual battery service life depends on the smoke/CO alarm and the environment in which it is installed. Batteries can lose life depending on the environment which could be related to direct sunlight, high temperature and high humidity.
