Saved My House, Chimney Fire
Had a chimney fire. Luckily this was next to the fireplace. Heard the roar, grabbed the extinguisher and shot it up the chimney. Problem solved before the fire got out of control. Best $75 I ever spent......
It certainly does have metal handle and valve
I am writing this review largely in response to another review that claims that the handle of this fire extinguisher was plastic and rated the fire extinguisher with 1 star for that reason (which at this time 9 people had found "helpful"). That is factually incorrect. In the product descriptions it describes the handle and valve as metal, and they are in fact metal. I just purchased three of these extinguishers at my neighborhood Lowe's. The design does seem to have changed from the pictures...

I have had mine since 1977
My wife was going to use my truck to pull the garbage cans to the road. I had replaced the starter 3 years ago and routed a hot wire the wrong way and it rubbed a hole in the brake line and shorted out and when she started the truck it caught fire. I used the fire extinguisher and had no trouble putting out the fire with the 43 year old First Alert extinguisher. I have got my truck fixed and will go to Lowe's today to purchase 2 extinguishers.
