Torn after the first season

I purchased this cover at the end of last season with high expectations because it claims to be "heavy duty". But when I took it off of my evaporative cooler this week it already has one 3" rip and 2 two other smaller tears. I repaired with tape designed for canvas covers but it is disappointing to have these failures after just the first season.
