CANTEX Plastic New work Switch/Outlet Electrical Box

Perfect fit

This shallow electrical fixture box was just what I needed. I bought an older home and when changing out a light fixture in the hallway, I discovered there was no box whatsoever. The fixture was just screwed into a stud with only wire nuts covering the connection. That isn't up to code (must have a box), so I needed to fix it. This box fit perfectly since it is only as thick as a sheet of drywall. Not much room for the wires, but at least they're protected.

Just what I needed

4in shallow round gang box

Easy to put in, is a little shallow for larger wire nuts. Used to mount sconces on wall.

Only found at Lowe's

Specialized electrical item just for my current projects

Not flat on the back.

Requires additional room to side of joist for raised back. Easy to drill anchor holes. The negative was the protruding rectangle for feeding wires through, that hindered the placement in the ceiling and made it more challenging to fit in the space. The one I removed was smaller but totally flat on the back which is easier as the joist is not always centered in the hole.
