The Arke space saving interior line of stair kits include the Nice2, Karina and Oak 30.Xtra. They are ideal to use as a replacement for traditional pull-down attic stairs when converting an attic into a loft, office or bedroom. The system is composed of a set of prefabricated components (steps, modules, railing, balusters, etc.) assembled together to form a winder staircase. The steel load-bearing structure is manufactured in modules, one per step. Each module consists of 3 different pieces welded together, two of which are embossed metal sheets and the third consists of a 3-5/32-in x 1/8-in 3 diameter tube. When the kit is assembled, each module is fastened to the adjacent modules by means of screws and nuts. The Karina is available in hi-gloss black, white or satin gray powder-coated steel with beech wood treads with a protective polyurethane coating. The alternating tread design (right-step/left-step) allows for interior installation in very limited spaces. It can be installed straight and with one L curve up to 180 degrees. Each space saving stair includes two specific modules, one bottom module for the structural attachment to the floor and one top module for the attachment of the staircase to the wall or to the upper floor. The railing is made of 25/32-in L-folded vertical steel balusters attached to the steps and to each other with plastic joints which make the structure more rigid. The balusters are painted to match the color of the structure. Add risers, second side rails (9 balusters), balcony rail kits and safety bars to reduce the space between the treads are available for optional purchase.
