A pre-filter, attached to the front, helps to remove the larger dust, dander and hair and pet fur from the air and can be gently vacuumed to extend the life of the filter. Thick layers of HEPA filtration material is what matters the most when air filtration is concerned and Alen makes very thick filters that fit snuggly into the filtration compartment for optimal performance.
