How to Clean Deck Railing

Now, clean the surface of your railing as per the instructions given in the railing material. The most common types include vinyl railing, iron railing, composite railing and aluminum railing. The process to clean each of these surfaces is detailed below. 

Wash the railings with clean water from the hose to remove the extra dirt. Then, use a clean rag to wipe the surface dry. Your vinyl railing is now clean in just 2 simple steps. 

Now, use a soft brush or cloth to remove some of the dirt embedded in the aluminum railing. 

Rinse with clean water and wipe with a clean, soft cloth. Do not allow the solution to dry on the railings, as this can leave spots. 

If the grease or dirt is persistent, you should use an aluminum cleaner. Read the instructions on the cleaner to determine whether it should be diluted. Then, use a soft cloth with the cleaner solution and rub it on the parts that need to be cleaned. 

Use a hose to rinse off the paste and then wipe with a dry cloth. Your iron railings are now clean. 

Next, dip a soft brush in the solution and scrub the area. Leave the solution on the surface. Allow the solution to seep 5–10 minutes more.  

Proceed to scrub softly using a cleaning scrub. Use light pressure to remove the stains on the deck. 

Wash the railing thoroughly with water. Then wipe off the surface with a piece of clean cloth. Ensure that no water is remaining on the surface. 

The solution will begin reacting, thereby eliminating mold. Use the scrub to remove any mold spores and spots. 

Use the garden hose to rinse off the deck. Remove all the solution from the deck and rub it dry with a cloth, making sure to dry the surface completely. 

Cleaning your deck railings will make them look new and increase the number of years they will be in service.
