Instructions

This project requires, a bifold door kit, one 36-inch furniture round, and a couple of dowels. Build it before lunch, paint it, and you can install it before the weekend is over.

Make the Shelves

Draw two lines across the disc to form four quadrants (Project Diagram, Drawing 4). Draw a line 1/2 inch from each side of the two crossing lines and place a strip of painter’s tape between them. Jigsaw the round along the edges of the tape to make four equal-size shelves. Sand the faces and the cut edges of the shelves with 180-grit sandpaper.

Good to Know

Don’t worry about getting the edges perfectly flat after cutting them with a jigsaw. Because you will be painting the doors, you can use construction adhesive to bond the shelves to the doors. After the shelves are glued in place, fill any voids with paintable caulk before adding the paint.
