How to Build Boots and Shoe Drying Racks

Download the Boot and Shoe Rack Drilling Guide and mark each board with the centered hole locations.

Place the board on a piece of scrap and use a square to help guide a 1-inch bit as you drill at each location. Sand each board smooth and to remove any sharp edges at the ends.

For the boot rack, cut two dowels into six pieces 13 inches long. For the shoe rack, cut six 8-inch pieces from the third dowel. Lightly sand each piece and round over the edges on what will be the top end.

Glue and insert a dowel piece in one of the holes until the end is even with the bottom of the board. Repeat for the remaining dowel pieces and let dry.

Apply two coats of paint (Ultra White shown) and let dry overnight before using.
