Nice Quality Piece

Make sure you pick it up yourself. One employee pulled this by themselves and dented the wood where the cardboard doesn't protect it. Should've sent 2 employees to get it. Since it is for an island, all sides will show. I might return it for a different one later. Not sure yet.

Gorgeous wood for a desk.

Purchased in store, it was packaged well and completely sealed. The thick plastic sealing and keeping it safe makes it difficult to look for defects, though. There was a small dent on one side, but the other side was perfect, so that became the top. I didn't stain, just used a satin polyurethane.

Pay Attention to the Poor Reviews on the Chevron

Pay attention to the poor reviews on the chevron style. I have had the straight in my kitchen, a high traffic area, for a year and a half with no signs of anything like what I've experienced with the chevron. Superior quality and look for an imported product!

I did not realize the diverse selevtion of butcherblock counters that are stocked in Lowes locations. I thought I had to buy on-line to get what I wanted, but the actual store had multiple to choose from! Very nice looking slabs. The only reason that I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the size of the chevron pattern changes from the smaller slab to a smaller slab making impossible to match up the pattern perfectly. I don’t blame Allen Roth for any dents and scratches on the slabs because of rough handling from shipping and store employees and If you are an experienced woodworker dents and scratches are not a problem and if you have the right tools you can make it look great!

Pretty, but don't count on using the full size

Made for a beautiful top for my 'China cabinet'. I'm glad that I didn't need the full size of this piece as the edges were pretty roughed up, probably in shipment of mishandling in the store? Once I trimmed this down to the size I needed, it was a pleasure to work with. Do be aware that this is a fairly soft wood, not as soft as pine, but certainly not oak or hickory hard.

Beautiful Countertop

This is the 2nd piece of Chevron countertop I have ordered although disappointed to see it was damaged with a large chunk of wood missing once I got home with it. It is too large to bring back and deal with exchanging so it will now be placed down on that side.

Stunning

Hands down the most beautiful thing I've ever purchased at Lowe's, and boy they have gotten a lot of my money over the years.
