I love my little Smokey Joe Premium Charcoal Grill. For years, when I was younger and had a house full of kids, I used a full sized Weber charcoal grill, and I loved it. Great grill, but has a learning curve.

Others have mentioned this grill not having vents on the bottom. Yes, this does make the grill a little bit harder to use, but not at all unable. The grill needs plenty of charcoal, I think people are missing that. The regular 14" smokey Joe [which I had before for years] got real hot with less charcoal, so I did struggle the first 5-10 times using this grill. Good construction, poor design

I replaced a small older model with the 14" design. The construction quality was up to par, however the design/function was completely unacceptable. The side air vents do not allow for adequate airflow. Keeping charcoal burning consistently when top vent is damped down is nearly impossible. Great travel grill

Took my Smokey Joe on camping trip this past week and did my first cook with it. I love the flavor that this little kettle grill brings. Was able to have two zone cooking for some awesome chops, then a couple flavorful burgers the next night. This grill packs up nicely with the fold over bail to hold everything nice and tight.

The perfect charcoal grill for a couple

This is my third Smokey Joe Premium (aka the "Gold" model) in nearly 25 years and is the perfect size for my wife and me to grill outdoors year 'round. The grill can be completely "buttoned up" after grilling which conserves on charcoal and minimizes the mess. It's still big enough to cook directly or indirectly so if you're into the "indirect sear" approach to cooking steak then this will still work for you.

Perfect size for two adults, I like that when you close the vents, it smothers the charcoal, ready for the next experiment with coated charcoal from the last adventure. Good warranty as well, recommend this product to charcoal grillers that don't need a big bulky grill that takes up space and can be an eye sore at times!

I live alone, & the Smokey Joe is perfect size, very portable & easy to hide. The facists that serve as aparment management do not allow anyone to store their grills on one’s patio. You can smoke weed on one’s patio, but never, ever store a grill on it. I do not mind bringing my grill in & out, but I will think of a way to conceal it on the patio!!!

Can't keep hot

I read a few of the reviews stating that the grill wouldn't keep hot and Charlie's that up to either inexperienced users or quality of charcoal etc.. Boy was I disappointed to find out they were totally right. Two-zone cooking can only hold stable (ish) if the exhaust vent is positioned directly over your coal bed and all vents are open wide.
