I only needed the small bracket that screws into the handrail. To get the bracket in had to buy the whole mounting bracket assembly. Why can’t I buy just the bracket? (Maybe because they make more money by requiring you to buy the whole bracket! You think?!

Much stronger than the brass or antiqued brackets
Very strong bracket, good material, same size as 3-decade old brackets I replaced. If you need to replace old broken or worn brackets, I strongly advise choosing the ones in the brushed nickel finish. The material will survive much more abuse and last forever. The brass brackets are very soft and easily break. Same for the antique finished ones. Also, the screws that came with mine seem to be very nice quality. I did not use them, just as my standard practice to avoid the (usually cheap) include...
