What Customers Are Saying
This box cutter is praised for its ergonomic and comfortable handle, the safety features of the ceramic blade, and its effectiveness in cutting through tape and boxes. However, the blade does not extend as far as a standard utility knife, making it less suitable for cutting thicker or tougher materials. The replacement blades are also reported to be more expensive than standard utility knife blades. Some reviewers felt the blade did not cut as cleanly or smoothly as a metal blade, especially when cutting across the grain of corrugated cardboard. Overall, this is a good box cutter for general household and light-duty use, with the safety and ergonomic benefits outweighing the limitations for many customers.

I'm intrigued by this odd little cut up. It certainly grabs my attention with its cool looks. And the ceramic blade concept is very innovative. So, how does it do? Does it cut the mustard? LOL Right out of the box, I started cutting a box. Since it is labeled as a Box Cutter that's what I did. There is less area of blade sticking out of the cutter as compared to a regular utility knife or box cutter with a steel blade. I had no issues making multiple cuts in cardboard boxes. I found the hand...
Nice handle. Unsure how practical.
Ergonomically, I don’t know if it’s good or not. Seems like a plain utility knife is just as easy to hold. It comes with one ceramic blade that retracts and extends with a sliding thumb button. Most of the tool is a big handle that curves around, presumably to aid on grasping. Laying the curved rear part of the handle flat along the box keeps the knife at the same angle. The blade has pluses and minuses. The plus is it’s a ceramic blade and probably won’t quickly go dull cutting boxes, li...
Easy to Hold, But Pricey
This is a new (at least to me) version of the old-fashioned box cutter tool. First the Positives: It is easy to hold and easy to find on a crowded workbench. The materials are all polymer or ceramic. Rust will not be an issue. The slide-switch makes opening and closing of the blade easier and safer than the traditional box cutter. Your fingers are away from the blade when opening and closing this tool. Fairly easy cutting “with the grain” on corrugated box materials. The blades are “do...
A safe way to break down boxes
I selected the manual box cutter because I break down many boxes during the week and often find myself jabbing and sometimes cutting myself in the process. This box cutter definitely solves that problem. The shape of the tool allows an easy grip, I found it very comfortable to use for multiple box breakdowns. It is easy to use, I feel a slight more pressure required to cut than with a sharp metal blade. The tool comes with only one blade which they claim will last 11x longer than steel. It is re...
Love The Design!
I had never seen a box cutter with this design before and I really like it. It fits well in my hand and the button to extend the blade is easy to operate. The hook design is great for hooking onto your pocket so it doesn’t get lost. The cutter comes with one blade, but the end of the cutter comes off where an additional blade can be stored. The blade can also be turned around and the other side can be used. The blade is ceramic so it’s easier to handle than a traditional blade and it’s easy...
Nice box-cutter, but not without flaws
Let me start by noting that if you need the special features of this box-cutter, it’s probably a 5 star cutter — the issues are more related to all of the design features you probably don’t need, rather than the ones you do. Pros: 1) ceramic blades that will keep a sharp edge much longer than traditional steel blades; 2) ambidextrous design that functions the same regardless of whether your are left or right handed; 3) limited point on the blade that makes it harder to accidentally poke yours...
Like the shape but it just doesn't cut it overall
Decided it was time for a new box cutter and liked the shape of this one. I feel it has a sturdier handle when I am cutting things, and the blade is definitely safer to use, but unfortunately, that is the only praise I can give it. I gave it a rating of 3 because if you want something safe for small (thin) jobs, this would work great, but I can't really call it a good box cutter. It cuts through one layer of normal cardboard smoothly and efficiently, but can't even cut through a heavier thicknes...
Well made and sharp
This Slice model 10400 box cutter is a curious-looking device. It feels particularly well-balanced in the hand and although it's not very heavy it does feel very sturdy and well-made. Other than its distinctive shape it does its task of opening boxes about as well as any other device made for that purpose. What makes it unique is the ceramic blade. This is not my first experience with ceramic blades, I have several ceramic kitchen knives and the one thing they all have in common is the ultra-s...
Safety Cutter
This unusual looking box cutter is designed for safety with just enough blade exposed to cut regular thickness of shipping cardboard. The short setting is good for cutting tape when shipments arrive without cutting too deep. I found that it fit comfortable in my hand and was sharp enough to cut regular shipping cardboard. For me a large piece of cardboard flexed enough that the blade in the extended position was not long enough, but scored it. In most cases i'm cutting the tape and folding the b...
Feels Good in the Hand and Safer Than Razor Blades
This is a very good box cutter that is comfortable and safe to use. This is my first boxcutter with a ceramic blade. I tried it out at maximum extension on a standard piece of cardboard, and it cut good but not great when compared to my metal blade cutter. It took a few more strokes than my metal blade to get the same job done. But that may be an acceptable trade off to gain the better longevity and safety of the Slice ceramic blade. There's a lot of science behind the Slice's "Finger-Friendly" ...
