this is the second one I bought, purchased 1st with blower combo but didn't bother to reg. and it died at 3.5 years. Just stopped working all at once. Tried the 12" 20v due to plant guide not realizing single string. It was worthless so I purchased another 13" 20v dual string works much better along chain link fence and other items much better. Have many of the 20v power tools and the trimmer is the only one that has died so far.

Died after 3 minutes of light usage.

Not impressed with my skil powercore 20 4.0ah 13 inch grass trimmer. I put it together, charged the battery and tried it on some light grass. The trimmer died after about 3 minutes of light trimming. The trimmer head would no longer rotate when I pulled the trigger. I returned it to the store where I purchased it for a refund.

Plenty of power for a battery piwered trimmer.

This is a powerful 2 speed grass trimmer that lasts for a good length of time. Coupled with a 20 volt, 4 ah battery and a fast charger, it is much betrer than i expected it to be. The low power setting is more than enough to do regular every day jobs, and the high setting will do a good job on heavier grass and small weeds. If this trimmer continues to impress me, i think the skil cordlees lawn mower will be my next purchase.

Okay weed eater could be more powerful and less in weight. They should build it out of magnesium material and plastic then it would have been really great and not sot so heavy.

It's ok not great

As far as weight it feels great, but I have two issues I don't like, 1st - the handle needs to be adjustable it's such a simple thing yet nobody does it. 2nd - either the switch is to touchy or when the trimmer comes into contact with a hard surface like a fence or sidewalk it powers down, this has happened to me several times already I'm not sure what it is exactly doing but it is annoying as heck.

The very first thing you’ll notice when unpacking the SKIL string trimmer is the quality of the design, engineering, and materials. As advertised.

Mostly behaved as advertised. Battery recharge time slightly longer than indicated; run time was about as indicated. Not a true "variable speed" tool, which was a little disappointing. Has 2 speeds to select from (Hi and Low), which does help to conserve battery, and match speed to cutting needs. Only used for one trimming session around the yard to this point, but so far seems to be a good match to my needs for the price.

Recommended replacement Weed Wacker

I like the cut it makes, being able to adjust the power is great for battery efficiency, the weight of the unit is more tolerable than my previous unit so I didn't feel so afterwards. My only complaint is that I think more grass shot towards my face then with my previous unit.

Nice light trimmer

Excellent light weight trimmer. The battery life was quite long considering how heavy the work load was for my first trim of the season. I have other Skil batteries but didn't need to swap it out.
