What Customers Are Saying
The tool is generally viewed as powerful and versatile, particularly for cutting through thin materials like drywall and plywood. Many users found it effective for tasks like cutting out electrical boxes and making circular cuts. However, some noted it can be challenging to control, especially for precise cuts, and the bits can break easily with too much pressure. Overall, the tool seems useful for DIY projects but may require practice to use effectively and safely.

This item is a great concept. I thought I would be able to zip right around outlets, etc. But it definitely wasn’t as easy as I thought. I ended up doing some areas the old fashioned way becuase I was causing more damage/work for myself. I have seen others use this and make it look easy, I think it takes a little practice to get the hang of it!

Burns vs. Cuts
This is supposed to be safe to cut wood. I attempted to use it to cut a hole in a cabinet for a receptacle and it burned the wood! I finished the project with a small saw.

Good for metal outlets that are square/round
Doing renovations with installing electrical circuits for lights, outlets, switches that are square or round. Next is the drywall. Once you measure (before putting drywall up) where the edge or center of electrical mount is located, the RotoZip saw will make quick work of cutting the outside perimeter once you get the hang of it. I found it works best on metal outlet boxes, round light recessed lights, and metal HVAC vents. Where ever plastic was used, the RotoZip will slice right through it...

Useful job specific tool
I had to purchase this to make cuts in the underside of a subfloor and found it to be the perfect tool for the job. Initially I was going to purchase the next amperage size up but once I compared them in the store I realized this is a much more compact unit and better designed. The larger ampacity rotozip is about two inches longer but the design was not suitable for working tight areas as the cable connects directly out the bottom of the motor and not out the side like this one. I had no proble...

Good tool, good price.
Works great, easy to change bits, very good for the price. Smooth enough to freehand reasonably straight lines if it doesn't have to be perfect. Would be nice if it had a tool-free way yo swap bits but it's still quick and easy to swap.

very hard to use
bump switch is very difficult to engage. worked out okay cutting around a metal box, but plastic electrical rough-in boxes are difficult to trace because they are so soft. tool is so powerful it just cuts right through them so you can't really feel Where You Are. made such a mess of things I went back to the old fashioned way of measuring and cutting out the boxes in drywall by hand. returned the tool for a credit

The tool itself did great and I mainly used it on drywall cutting but the drywall dust I think messed up the switch and the tool did not want to function properly and I thought it might have been kind of dangerous to keep it so I returned it and got me another one but now I try to keep this one cleaner. And I was a little bit worried about the plastic plate on the tool thinking it might get broken .getting thrown around in my toolbox and truck but it did great. And make sure you get the 2-year ...

It's all about the depth
don't follow the 1/8" depth rule, take off the guard and this thing will follow your box like magic. I screwed up a few pieces of drywall before I figured that out.
