What Customers Are Saying
The product has a mixed reception, with some customers satisfied with its basic functionality and value, while many others have experienced significant issues with its performance and durability. Key positives include simple controls, effective cleaning, and quiet operation, but major complaints revolve around poor reliability, slow cycles, unbalanced operation, and lack of customization options. Overall, the product appears to be a basic, no-frills machine that may work well for some, but has a high risk of premature failure.

i have the pair and would not change them for any other washer/dryer set out there. it washes my king size quilts without a groan and get s them clean. no fancy settings but we arent fancy people. it stays balanced better than any other machine i have used. please dont ever quit carrying this line. if this one gives out then i want another set exactly like them. i have had mine 4 years now and havent had one bit of problems with them.
recommended by service techq
We were ready to repair/replace our current washer and Our Guy (who always gives us great service as cheaply as possible) made a few recommendations. First he said that if we were going to buy a higher end machine, go with this this or another. We said "ok, what about lower end" and without hesitation he said "Roper. If you want simple functioning & as much reliability as you can get with a budget machine, they're the way to go" Our experience after a couple of years is, simply, satisfied. ...
Worst washing machine I’ve ever used!
I have used several washing machines in my life many being top loading machines, and I have never used one that went off balance as many times as this washing machine does. If I did 10 loads of laundry, eight of them would be off balance. The loads that would not be out of balance would be something like sheets, but if you put clothing in it, it goes out of balance, no matter how careful you are trying make sure those clothes are in there so it doesn’t go out of balance. This is by far the wors...
Winner
We had our Roper washer for 14 years, heavy use everyday. It has never had any kind of problem. Simple controls means less to break down. High quality washing tub -not plastic-it's porcelain over steel. Never lost a sock. We highly recommend this washer. Priced right.
Great
for the buck its well worth it, does the job and really works well.

Lemon and no help
I purchased this very washer june 6th 2018 to replace a maytag epic z front load. I gave it away. I wanted a plain washer without all the junk added to it plus a top loader. May 6th of 2019 this washer started to leak called whirlpool and they sent repair tech. He couldn't find cause but assumed it was drain hose and ordered part. It took 4 more visits before they got the right hose and then it flooded my laundry room and a new thing started. I was locked out of my washer for a while and I was ...

Works well so far!
In 2 days I have run 13 loads of clothes through the machine and as long as it continues to work as it does I will be pleased. I like the old style full height agitator and the 4 paddle design agitator at the bottom of the tub. This old design cleans the clothes very well, much better than the stubby nub agitators that newer designs have. Also like the fact that water covers the clothes fully with water in the auto sense mode. There is no need to use the deep water wash mode as the auto sense pr...
Excellent Basic Simple Washing Machine
My new Roper RTW4516FW2 was delivered on 6-21-19 and I have been very pleased with it. I like that it is an uncomplicated machine. It has adequate capacity to handle anything I need to wash. The cycle that I use the most is the Normal/Heavy cycle with Auto Sense, which provides tap hot water on the Hot setting and enough water to cover the load, without wasting water and also uses the same amount of water for the rinse, not a spray rinse, like the Normal/Regular cycle on the Auto Sense withou...

Dependable Basic Washer
I've owned this washer for 3 years now. I just had to do some maintenance on the matching dryer (I wrote a review regarding thagt) and so I thought I'd add a review for the washer. When I purchased this set, I wanted machines that would hopefully be dependable enough to last for a long time and basic enough that when repairs were needed (moving parts = repair needed at some point), it would be easy and inexpensive. I'm a handy wife and I've repaired a previous set of basic GE machines. These da...
13 years of reliability before the first problem
Like my title says, I had a Roper for 13 years before it ever caused any issues. With that said, when it failed it wasn't a mechanical failure or electronic failure. The tub sprung a leak from what appeared to be an internal scratch. I'm guessing a nail or screw came out of my pocket and caused the problem. This little washer was a trooper. It handled any and every load I threw at it and it always came out swinging. It wasn't the quietest washer around but it sure wasn't the most expensive eithe...
