What Customers Are Saying
The reviews present a mixed sentiment about the product. While some customers found it to be a powerful, comfortable, and reliable tool that worked well, a significant number reported major issues with frequent jamming, inconsistent nail placement, and overall poor performance. The main complaints were about the tool only working for a few shots before jamming, requiring constant disassembly and clearing of jams, and nails not sinking properly. On the positive side, some reviewers praised the tool's versatility, ease of use, and battery life. However, the negative experiences seem to outweigh the positive ones, with many customers advising others to consider alternative products instead.

Room for improvement
I recently purchased the Metabo HPT NP18DSALT 18V MultiVolt™ Cordless Compact 23-Gauge Pin Nailer for a project that involved installing 3/4" solid oak, and while the tool has a lot of great features, it didn't quite live up to my expectations of Metabo HPT tools. The brushless motor is efficient, and with the 3.0Ah battery, I was able to drive up a few hundred pins per one charge without any issues, making it ideal for longer sessions. The built-in counterweight helped minimize recoil, and the ...

Not what I consider to be a convenient tool.
I've had this nailer now for over 9 months, but have not used it extensively, but with good reason. This nailer constantly misfires and jams. I have only used Metabo HPT 23 gauge brad nails in it, and I keep the rails cleaned out to avoid having debris causing feed issues, yet it still breaks the nail sets after every load. The reason I mention this is that you cannot load a full set, or partial set behind another partial set, as it will cause feed issues, guaranteed. Which leads to my next comp...

Nice compact size and sets the nails perfectly
This gun is the perfect tool for smaller trim / molding. It gets in tight spaces, and the headless nails leave a very small hole to tend to. I have never had to change the battery while using it for hours at a time.

Poor qulity
At first when I seen the metabo hpt cordless line up I was super excited due to it being "Hitachi" formerly. After spending alot and jumping head first into metabohpt I'm mixed on to like or not. I'm very happy and like a few if not most of all that I've bought and have no complaints, some I like but aren't really what I'd hope they would be but overall happy. And then there are a couple that hands down in completely disappointed with and think are bad. And one of those be the 23g pin nailer. Th...

Instant On and Easy to Use Features
I really really like this cordless micro pinner. I've had this for a couple of years now and guess I haven't really done a review yet. In the meantime I've used every single length of 23ga pin that works in this nailer in a range of materials from oak and birch plywoods to pine and poplar trim. I've had great success in all of these use cases. The nail firing is not instant like the pneumatic version but is very quick when you pull the trigger, and it can rapid fire just about as fast as you can...

In need of a redesign
I recently picked up one of these after putting it off for a long time. I’d read the negative reviews and they scared me away for months. I finally found one for a price I was willing to take a chance on and unfortunately I had an experience similar to many other folks. The gun just jams frequently. When it does work it has plenty enough power to sink 1-3/8” pins into solid poplar. But like many other reviewers, my gun would shoot 2 or 3 just fine then the next pin would be folded over by t...

Not a tool for me
I have 11 Metabo cordless tools, all of them are exceptional and used are my only cordless brand, except for the 23 gauge nailer. It is very inconsistent and frustrating to use.

Don't Get It.
I've had this for a little over a year and thought it was going to be an integral part of my tool kit. In fact, it's the worst nailer I've ever used. Heavy hole for a pin gun, shoots maybe 1-in-10 pins correctly and without jamming. The worst thing is since this is a fine finish gun, those failures are impacting high-end cabinetry and wood projects. I've ditched it entirely. Better to know an 18g will go correctly and have a single hole to correct than to shoot 10 holes and still have no fastene...

Not a fan
I have had this for a few years and it has been constant frustration. For every one good nail I get three jams. To make it worse, there is no quick release to clear the jams. You must unscrew 4 screws to do so and of course screw 4 back in. Meanwhile, glue is drying and wood is shifting while trying to get a nail in to hold it together. Often you will find 3 or more pins jammed together and there is no easy way to tell it is not working as firing the gun leaves a small hole in the wood, re...
