Lower wall is designed poorly

I didn't understand as I read other reviews, but now that I've purchased this product I can see what they meant: you can't really see it in any of the pictures, but the product is DESIGNED to have the lower half of the back wall (under the shelf) to be crooked. Convenient product

I enjoyed this particular product, however, I would recommend using non-pan handle screws with a drywall surround so it sits flush. I followed the manufactures instruction on the type of screw and my drywall did not sit flush so I had to purchase different screws, but otherwise easy to work with and install.

Cramped, badly designed

I purchased this enclosure and had it installed the weekend of 11/30, but it was not used for the first time until Christmas. That was when we realized that there was something terribly wrong. Not great design

Just had this installed and not happy with the 4 inch intrusion of the shelf into the shower area. Makes it tight to shower with lack of space. Walls look great but not great design

Had to tear down some tile and replaced it with this. Installation was fairly easy, one side needed a little finesse for the tabs to slide in but that was most likely my slightly not level / not square install than the surround. Stood inside and the shelf encroachment doesn’t bug me at all, but it for sure does eat up a little space. Like the looks and seems solid, and it’s a very reasonable price. I’ve seen quite a few reviews here complaining about the protrusion of the shelf making for tight quarters and throwing off the symmetry . I disagree , I have plenty of room to shower , and I am 6’4” and 270 lbs . The surround is sturdy and tight , and seems to be a quality product . It looks good . A word of warning , if you aren’t putting it in new construction or doing a complete demo down to the studs , the surround fits a bit tight , and I had to gouge the drywall to get it in . ...

VERY hard to clean!

Do NOT buy this bathtub surround. It has an elegant look, but it's a nightmare to clean. It's so bad, that I'm uninstalling it and replacing it after just four weeks. The problem is that the faux "grout" between the faux subway tiles is textured, and actually harder to clean than real grout. In a matter of days after cleaning, it develops mold/mildew spots everywhere. The "grout" hangs on to moisture and before you know it, you've got little black spots everywhere. It's a nightmare.

Great upgrade, clean look, and easy install.

Overall, my experience was very positive. Installation was straightforward, especially compared to tiling, and everything fit together well. This thing sucks.

As a contractor, this is HORRIBLE surround. Do not buy this. By a kohler sterling unit instead. Maxx is a joke of a company. Do any of your engineers do the install? No? I assumed so. Oh let’s just have a 3 wasted bump in to the shower. Let’s angle the side wall so it looks out of plumb. Let’s not sell a tub to go with it so the tub base to surround will NEVER be secured. Crap product from a crap company sold at a box store.
