LARSON Tradewinds Selection Storm Door with Quickfit Handle

problem

I like the style of the door, but the upper section will not latch shut so it slides down on its own leaving about a 1/2-inch opening at the top of the door. I have another door that I bought earlier this year just like it and it does the same thing. This will be a problem when the weather gets cold.

Alaska buyers

It was a great door when we bought it in the summer but once the winter hit , the loaded spring retractor for the screen broke and the warranty was useless because Larson does not ship up to Alaska where we live. Also Lowe’s was no help at all. I’d avoid this all together.

Great Features

I love my new storm door. I love I can open the screen on nice days for fresh air. I also love how it closes quickly on it's own.

Perfect storm door!

I bought this to replace the same door that was purchased 35 years ago. I’m sure this one will hold up just as well. Very attractive and seals in my front door.

Terrible Quality Doors

We purchased two of these doors in February 2026 to replace two Pella doors that were 25 years old. Evidently Pella no longer sells storm doors, but we were assured by Lowes that Larson made the Pella doors, so we would be getting the same high quality... Riiight. 🙄 Since February, we've had to have someone come out to fix the doors THREE TIMES! Installation Process

First of all the door is great and we love it. The issues we had are with Lowe’s and the install team. We had them measure the door and send us a quote for $200 more than the listed price because they measured wrong and said it was a custom size. Horrible install experience - fire hazard

I don’t usually do reviews largely because I don’t believe it will make a difference; but this is so ridiculous that I felt I had to. I paid extra $200 to have Lowe’s come out and measure and install storm door. After the initial install, they have come back out 3 times already and the lock on the door still gets stuck and will not unlock. It is a fire hazard. Solid Door, but Serious Quality Control and Safety

The door itself feels solid and well-built, but Larson really falls short on quality control and safe finishing. The biggest concern is the extremely sharp edges and corners on the aluminum frame. While removing the door from the box, I actually sliced my fingers on the unfinished/sharp edges. This is a legitimate safety concern—especially considering unpacking and handling the frame is unavoidable during installation. Not happy

Purchased & got it installed end of Mar 2025. Only last a little over than a year. We hardly used the retractable screen. We happened to have a nice breezy day so we pulled the screen down to get some fresh air and the spring mechanism broke.
