I checked the crawl space after recent subzero temperatures and found a leaking CPVC pipe right above the foundation. My first attempt at gaining access to the pipe were unsuccessful due to multiple other pipes and floor joists in the area. Had a unexpected waiter heater purchase and was concerned with getting my sawzall up into pipes. Decided to try this out and was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to use and how clean of a cut it made in copper pipes. I just popped it on and twisted about a dozen times. Cut needed minimal deburring which was nice.
Beware...Lowes Sells Used Tools
I would recommend the Kobalt 1/2-in Copper Tube Cutter. It really does a nice job in tight spaces. Unfortunately, it appears that the Cutter I bought was used. Lowes then put it back on the shelf as NEW. It is sad to know that a customer would use a tool and then return it. But it is worse that Lowes would not inspect the tool before selling it as a new Cutter.
Close quarter cutter works great
This tubing cutter works particularly well if you follow the directions on the package and the arrows on the tool! Much easier than the old c-clamp style cutter as long as you have the space and strong, non-arthritic hands.

Inaccurate Product Description
The description says "Cuts copper tubes up to 1/2 in (5/8 OD)". In fact, it does not cut "up to 1/2 in", it only cuts 1/2 in tubing. Nothing less. So it was useless since I needed to cut 3/8 copper tubing.
too flimsy
my cutter has a plastic body and requires 5 or 6 times the revolutions are the metal body one I have. it eventually works but it annoys me compared to the other one I have. if you're cutting more than a couple lines, get the step up.
Worked fine
Worked as well as the last plumber's cutter. Would recommend a set of deburring tools. The cut leaves a lip on inside of pipe. But so did the plumber's cutter. Made 6 cuts and they were uniform.
The fastest way to cut 1/2” copper pipe in a wall.

Works well, most of the time
Nice cutter. Works great on cpvc (especially old brittle cpvc) but a few times the blade was crooked and wandered on the pipe. Great for tight spaces.
