This is a smooth, very well constructed ratchet with a high tooth count. It is a perfect length for getting into tight spaces length wise. Working in the engine compartment on a lot of the more modern cars there is not a lot of room. I could not use my Tool Truck 3/8" drive because there was not enough room. Great little ratchet

They may have recently changed this item as the description says it is a 72 tooth ratchet. I went through the ones they had in stock and found one that was 90 tooth. Strangely, it had the exact same product number and SKU. I bought that one because I like the ability to only have to turn the ratchet a few degrees to catch the next pawl. Granted, the more teeth, the less torque, but it is only a 1/4" drive ratchet. I don't plan on putting too much torque on any nuts with it anyway. Overall,...

Nice little ratchet

Good for working in tight areas. The 90 tooth mechanism is allows shorter arcs when there isn't much room. I was a bit worried about durability, more teeth means smaller teeth, especially in a small ratchet. But, with the great warranty I figure it's worth finding out. The only thing I don't really care for is that the quick detach button sticks out, unlike some other ratchets I have. I haven't had an issue pressing it accidentally yet though.

Good but mine needs help

I purchased a Stanley my first round and wound up giving it to the kid. Drive was built too long and socket fit was sloppy. I purchased this Kobalt and all was good but i notice the direction switch rewuires an intentional flip when changing directions. Annoying when you are in a hurry or in extreme positions. Other than that, it's a great too. I would lube mine to see if that would make it better but the screws are SO SMALL (torques) I have to buy a tool to work on my tool! I figure it's tod...

not reliable

it broke, failed to engage the teeth of the ratchet in either direction upon using it for the third time not a heavy load. a one handed easy pull caused it to malfunction. they no longer stock these at Lowe's so it had to be special order which meant I didn't get a replacement for about a week.

Ratchet looks good but...

Picked up this 1/4" drive ratchet due to my old Snap-On being worn out and needing one that day. Solid ratchet and built well except for the On/Off lever. It won't stay in either position when tightening or removing nuts then it jams. Frustrating when trying to work on something when the ratchet stops working. I ended up buying a rebuild kit for my Snap-On and got it working fine. This one is going back.

Poor Internal Construction

I bought this in a kit. It did not work at the outset. I took it apart to oil it, thinking that maybe it was just a lubrication issue. No, the internal mechanism is sub-par compared to many other ratchet mechanisms I have seen. I returned the ratchet to Lowes and was able to upgrade to the flexible 1/4 Kobalt ratchet for a bit over 3.00 more. Hope this information helps you.

Simple, easy and smooth

My sister needed a new 1/4” drive socket ratchet and since I have been purchasing primarily Kobalt brand over the past few years, it was a no brainer to pick her up one of these. It’s simple looking (don’t need anything fancy, yet still looks nice), easy using (the quick release and direction flip switch works great), smooth moving ratchet.

hang tag hard to remove

I needed this for my metric sockets. We needed to assemble some chairs we bought. Really light duty work. I couldn't get the hang tag off. People at the store did not know either. Finally got it off with brute force. The ratchet works fine, but don't leave the store until they remove the hang tag for you.
