The Cobalt Double cut file may not seem to exciting, but, if you have only used old hand-me-down files before, this is a real step up. You can see a couple of the old files that I inherited from my father. He was super creative in finding materials for handles. Some had handles he fashioned from scraps of wood. Some as you can see used small branches and he even tried a corn cob! The Cobalt handle, coupled with the 10 in file has a good weight and is well suited for my hands. The handle is comfor...

Tough durable file
This file works well for smaller jobs. If you have a sharp metal corner or edge this file can definitely help smooth out the edges. The file works well when paired with a handle/holder like the one I used in the photo. I guess you could file things without one, but The handle definitely makes it more ergonomic and nice to use. I recently tried to cut something that my metal snips couldn’t handle. The result was a slightly damaged and uneven blade. I decided to use my file to repair the blade t...
Packaging needs improvement. But file is good
Package information is so small I needed to use my camera to read the text. I'd recommend improving the description text on the package. Due to the limited information on the file package I had to do 30 minutes of web searching to know what type of file I needed. The file is great...durable, correct thickness to fit in my handle and the grooves hold up well to abuse. (Buy a file brush to keep the cutting treads clean and buy a handle). It was easy to adjust down pressure to smooth ou...
This file is a beast!
I only have one thing to point out that I didn't like about this file - it was wrapped in a plastic material that took me forever to get off without gouging up the file. This would be better wrapped in paper or in a box. Other than that, I used this file with the Kobalt handle to sharpen some knives and my lawnmower blade and it did a great job. The file is heavy, which is nice when you have to cut a lot of material, and the shaft stays put in the Kobalt handle. I'm glad to have both and they're...
Super Durable, Solid File!
This is no cheap thin file. This is a super solid, durable, file that will do some real work. I don't know about long term durability at this point, but from what I have used it, I think it will hold up over time too. I'm not easy on my tools, and having a file that is built well will ensure better performance and longer life. Pair it with the Kobalt File Handle for a great tool! The file is the same double cut on both sides.
Decent.
Decent file, but just like the half round bastardfile I got the cut wasn't aggressive enough for my taste. Cuts well enough and held up to a lot of mild steel and brass material removal. Doesn't seem as sharp as when I first started (only one project) but part of that I'm sure was from my own derp-itude from dragging it back across the metal instead of lifting it in the back stroke.
Very good file
I am finally able to file down the screw tips I accidentally put through the inside of my chicken coop. I can't tell you how many times I've hit my head on them. This file smoothed them almost all the way flat, I had a little trouble getting ahold of it but a rag made it easier to hold. The next day I received the handle and tried different jobs and it went much better. Definitely get the handle with the file!!!
Very smooth
I used this file to de burr some metal rings. It worked really well. Took off the burrs really quick with little shavings left on the file. I had purchased cheaper files in the past for this same project and they did not hold up. I’ve done 12 - 2 ft rings so far and it still looks like new. The file is smooth when running across the metal, and doesn’t grab like cheaper ones.
Heavy Steel File!
Wow, this double cut file is heavy and feels solid in the handle. I have an old file which probably still works fine, but this new file is so sharp, it makes metal shaping effortless. It’s easy to use/control and well balanced. Pair this file with the Kobalt handle and you’ll have the perfect combination of functionally and ease of use. This may be the last file I’ll need. Highly Recommend!
Great size for multiple projects
This is a very well made file. Its very thick and made the job of sharpening my axe very quick and easy. The structure of the file makes it file faster and it seems like it will last a much longer time than my other files. When you pair it with the handle, you have a very strong grip where you can file better and more comfortably.
