What Customers Are Saying
This tape measure has a mix of positive and negative attributes. Customers appreciate the long standout, durable construction, easy-to-read markings, and convenient features like the finger brake. However, many have experienced issues with quality and durability, reporting the tape bent, cracked, or broke after short periods of use. Some also found the tape measure to be overly heavy and bulky. The reviews suggest the product has desirable features, but the quality and longevity are inconsistent, with many customers expressing disappointment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What I LIKED: Numbers, on BOTH SIDES OF THE TAPE, are VERY easy to read, and to distinguish between marks. That part was excellent. The tape measure has a good heft to it -- not too much, not too little. The clip is outstanding ... almost too strong.. almost. Overall, except for the primary negative feature, I'd rate this outstanding. What I DIDN'T LIKE: Unfortunately, that outstanding feature drops the overall usefulness of this measure down c...

Great features, a little bulky for size
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Most of the tape measures I own are the standard 25’ variety. I got this tape measure to have a more compact version to keep on my belt when doing woodworking projects as I often need to measure less than 8 feet. This tape measure has many of the qualities I look for in a tape measure. Positives: 1. Unsupported Stick Out - this tape measure has almost 12 feet of stick out without support. I’m sure this length will decrease with usage, but I...

poor design choices
I poured over reviews to get the best tape for the buck. So i picked this one up. First, it is a solid tool, the finger brake feature is good, and the throw is as advertised. THAT BEING SAID, I was able to use this tape for 3 days of not even heavy use, just regular construction use. (well after 30 days, no returning!) The thumb lock ripped off. As I inspected it, I discovered that the actual button is held on with glue- it is not a contiguous piece. In addition, I realized that whoever designed...

Great Value!
Saved my Deal. As a Newly Licensed Realtor, I get all kinds of requests, but, one client was adamant about me going in and measuring the room, since he was purchasing site unseen.. I felt panicky until a spirit said just "pick up a tape measure" from Lowes and measure for him on Facetime. It worked! My deal closed today. With all kinds of expenses (NAR Mess) and red tape and mental frustration, its no wonder many quit Real Estate and any other field here in America. Lowes is part of the solution...
Irwin 16' tape - sturdy, but still sleek!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, the packaging that this came in was insane. The tape measure has an 80 foot drop rating, but with that packaging, Irwin shows that they care about how your tape measure looks once you get it. I won't ever be up 80 feet, but good to know my tape measure could handle it. I am used to tapes with an auto lock feature, but this tape has recessed access where I can use my finger to act as a brake. While new to me, that feature is actually qui...

My Kitchen remodel
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A few weeks ago Irwin sent me a 25 foot and a 16 foot long STRAIT-LINE tape measure to review. I have been using tapes in my work on film sets all around the world as well as a large number of Industrial Design projects. These are probably the best i have ever used. First they are extremely well built, a rubberized exterior coating feels very comfortable to hold. Both tapes look like they will last a literal lifetime with the rubberized coatin...

Too bulky
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I picked the 16' on purpose. I work more in the shop than outside on projects. For a 16' tape, it has awfully corse markings. It is too corse for the miter saw or trim work. I like the standout it has, but would rather have a narrower less bulky tape in this size. None of this would pertain to a 25' tape. I have a 25' SelfLock tape, and thought the stay out design genius, but it wore out and is now useless. The finger break on the Irwin is just...

Irwin 16' Tape Measure
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Does what a tape measure should do. Great tape measure for construction. I don't usually use a tape this big, but it's great when I need a large tape. I like the finger control for retrieving the tape. It saves cutting a finger on the edge of the tape which I may or may not have done with previous tapes. The locking button is also easy to use and effective. It has all the markings used in construction and is easy to read with large lettering. I...

Bought because of reviews, worst tape measure ever
As someone who does a lot of DIY projects, I've never had to write such a bad review. I bought this because of 1) the supposed specs, 2) the reviews and 3) it being a 2-pack. What I got was twice the misery. I lost my Dewalt tape measure under my house and bought this because you can supposedly extend it at least 13 feet without it bending/snapping. 3 feet is more like it. Beyond that, this thing is pure misery. If I try to extend it beyond a few feet it immediately snaps or does a 180 twist and...

16 Foot Strait-Line Review
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am renovating a small barn and currently installing 2” rigid insulation board across the ceiling. The Strait-line 16’ has earned the spot for this task over the Milwaukee 25’ I was using and even the Strait-line 25’. With the variable lengths required to fit this old barn, I have been measuring lengths at the ceiling repeatedly extending in the range of 12 feet. I was surprised that the 16’ held so well for my horizontal measures and it wo...
