What Customers Are Saying
The Hunter Windemere II ceiling fan has a mixed performance. Some users find it quiet, stable, and aesthetically pleasing, with useful features like a remote control and dimmable light. However, many report issues with the unreliable remote, dim lighting, difficult installation, frequent flickering or turning off of the light, and motor or component failures. The overall quality and reliability problems appear to outweigh the positive attributes for many customers.

I’m with some of the other reviewers. I wish I had of read the reviews before buying. We were shopping in store when we bought this and I’m having buyer’s remorse at this point. The fan is great looking and I really do want to like it, but there are a couple of problems for us and our use. 1) As a couple of other reviewers have noted, the light is not very bright (nothing mentioned on box or online about the lumens, just that it is a 17 watt LED light. If you are like me that doesn’t tell ...

DO NOT BUY THIS!!! MOTOR STARTED SMOKING!!!
I purchased this ceiling fan in April and it was always really, really LOUD. The unit made a terrible buzzing noise, but I thought it was the way it was - and I wasn't happy with it the second I turned it on. It worked for a few months, but then it started to SMOKE! I went into the room and it smelled like burning plastic or something and I felt the motor and it was so HOT I couldn't even touch it! I couldn't believe it! IT COULD HAVE BURNED MY HOUSE DOWN!!! I literally turned off the power to t...

Quiet. Dim Light, Remote Failure, Complete Garbage
Quiet and smooth fan when it works, Dim light when it works. Quality is not a feature here. I purchased two of these fans, both had receiver problems that Hunter ignores as a Quality Assurance problem. Do yourself a favor and search for hunter fan receiver (k143806000) - they're backordered as there are so many of these Windemere (and Dempsey) fans that completely fail due to the remote - for months. If it is ever back in stock, it will cost you $55 + shipping for that replacement part that's no...
Not as easy to install as some other Hunter fans
This wasn't as easy to install as other Hunter fans I've installed, and I chose NOT to install the remote so that wasn't my issue. Just felt like I had to double check the instructions more than usual and the blades were a bit harder to attach. Both blade color choices are different variations on a washed gray (the lighter side is a soft driftwood color, the darker a slightly brownish darker gray driftwood color). The light is not what I expected, it's about the output of a 60 watt bulb and n...

Great Fan, a few install items to watch out for.
Master bedroom with 12 foot cathedral ceiling. 1) the two screws holding the ceiling plate could be a little bit longer. The electrical box screw holes where a bit closer than the bracket design, but i was able to bend the bracket, but this pulled the mounting points in a little bit. Plus you are working very close to ceiling. 2) you have to have the light plugged in for the fan to operate as the fan reverse switch is part of LED light plate. BUT, blades must be attached before you can attach li...
Buy another brand
I bought this fan for our bedroom. Easy to install and looked great. Remote paired and worked fine the first day. Installed a second Hunter remote control fan (Omicron) the next day. The Windemere quite working. Did research on how to install 2 remote controlled fans on same home circuit and followed these directions. Nada. Second fan continued to work fine. Called Hunter and the condensed version is they sent me a new remote receiver three (3) separate times. None of which ever worked. A...
Remote Control and Module issues
As with many others, I wished I would have looked at all the negative reviews before purchasing. Installation was simple as is the case with most Hunter fans; however, after a few hours, the light started shutting off and then back on by itself. Then when there was no other noise in the room, I realized both the fan motor and light were shutting off and on together. I called Hunter to see if there was a solution. During the troubleshooting process, the remote became unpaired and never would ...
We Love It. Quiet and Looks Nice
Purchased Hunter brand after a bad experience with a Hampton Bay brand fan. The Hunter fan is far superior. My father and husband installed it in our family room fairly quickly. It is self leveling and does not wobble at all (the Hampton Bay fan was all over the place). The design fits our room well and looks very nice. We mounted the remote on our side table beside the recliner on the underside with a command strip. Very handy. We replaced a ceiling light with this fan, so needed one with a li...
NEVER Buy fans with Remotes!
I bought 3 of these fans and installed them myself. I’ve installed hundreds of ceiling fans, so I know what I’m doing. These 3 fans worked for less than a week in an unoccupied house before the remotes crapped out. I wasted the better part of a day taking these down and replacing with fans without remotes. So these fans cost me the 2 hours of install the first time, 30 minutes of trouble shooting, 90 minutes getting new ones, 90 minutes removing old fans, 90 minutes installing new ones, and an h...
The Edsel of Fans
Unfortunately we did not read the reviews before purchasing this fan. This is the third fan from Hunter that we purchased in the last six months. The first two are incredible and live up to the Hunter name. This one is worthless beyond description. If you want a fan that the blades are in slow speed continuously and the light stays on continuously then this is the fan for you. The only way I found to turn this fan off is to cut the power from the electric box. Problem is other appliances are con...
