Best box for hanging ceiling fans
Best old work deep box. I always use this product during any ceiling fan installation. Easy and reliable every time

Excellent for remodel
This worked great for putting up a fax where there were no rafters to attach it to

Easy to use and easy to modify for 12in joists.
I’ve used several of these style expanding fan braces in the past. They all work about the same if your ceiling joists are 16in on center, but ours supporting the second floor above us are 12in. Out of the box this won’t fit, but it is easy to remove the set screw, remove the non-threaded end, and cut both the tube and threaded rod inside it down with a sawzall with a metal tooth blade. I cut the assembly down to 9”, popped the end back on, and it installed easily in my 12in on center joist spac...

Get out of the attic !
It worked out just like the videos I watched before my purchase, I was very impressed. The previous hook-up was a wire pulled through a hole, no box nothing but a fire ..hazard . I had to put 1/4" shims under each wayside due to the thin plywood ceiling on my porch to make it flush with ceiling. Well worth the money, otherwise I would've had to crawl out onto the porch ceiling from the attic and it wouldn't have been easy but it would have been ITCHY.

HBL Universal Fan Brace Kit Review
The kit comes in a box with an expandable bar/rod, a “pancake’ metal box, a bracket to attach the pancake box to the bar, along with the necessary screws and a Romex protector insert to prevent the metal junction “pancake” box from cutting the insulation on the wires. The instructions are really very simple if you are familiar with how the bar/rod fits in the ceiling. I installed it between two rafters without drywall to show the proper configuration (see pic below). Installation: Cut a hole ...

Missing parts and screws don't fit
I bought two of these ceiling boxes. I found a screw missing in the first one. When I opened the second one the screws were all they, but one hole would not allow anscrew to go in. Argh
Please contact RACO Tech Support at [email protected] for guidance on how to install this ceiling can support brace.

Had to cut to fit 12 inch span
This is a fabulous product that was recommended by an electrician friend of mine after I told him about one of my ceiling fans falling. He said improperly installed fans with junction boxes not rated for the weight are far more common than people realize. So I used this box in that one bedroom on the 2nd floor of my home and checked my 3 other bedroom’s fans. While some were better mounted than others (heavy nails), none were truly rated for ceiling fans. Of my total 4 bedrooms, this produc...

Awesome product
This was exactly what I needed to install ceiling light. The location in center of room just happened to have HVAC duct running in the space for bedroom upstairs. This low profile support and pan box was perfect. Anything taller would not work. The quality of construction is great and ease of installation was a snap.
Thank you for your feedback on the RACO Ceiling pan and the 5-star rating.
