The product is fine. The service I received was terrible. I ordered the RACO box online for me to pick up at the store in order to save time. When I went to the pickup counter no one was there. I walked to the return desk and the woman identified herself as a manager said the pickup woman was coming in the door behind me. She attempted to find my purchase, couldn’t find it, looked it up on her phone & computer and told me it was in a locker and walked away. I returned to the return lady/manager....

Great ceiling fan box

Solid galvanized metal, just wish it had onflat side to screw into the rafter, had to chisel out a little wood to get it to fit, but it's holding the ceiling fan as expected

Gets the job done, but pricey for what it is...

This box and bracket can be installed through the hole in the ceiling, where the old plastic box was removed. This metal box and bracket are fairly sturdy. The bracket was not quite square and is a little flexible. Had to shim, with washers between the bracket and box, to level out the ceiling fan mounting bracket.

Didn't Work as Well As Expected

Based on all the other reviews here I expected this box to work well. I got it to work but it was a much bigger hassle than expected. I was doing an old work installation of a fan where a light fixture used to be. My main issue is they give you about a 5-10 degree screw angle into the bracket on the joist/stud to work with... I have a very small cordless drill but I still had a difficult time getting the screws in good & straight. Do they understand that I can't fit my whole drill into the dryw...

I got it installed, but not without some headaches. I watched the video twice before starting. The video makes it look simple, so I figured it would take me 10 minutes max. I dry fitted the box to the bracket before starting and noticed that it only fits one way - the holes are not in the center. It's pretty obvious which way it needs to go. First problem I ran into was... my drill/socket would not grip the screw heads enough to drive them into the joist. It just kept hopping and striping ...

I bought this due to I had to go through a 1 inch rib of sheet metal. Things worked out perfectly.

Not a universal part

Apparently these are not universal, as the screw holes did not align with another fixture

Just what I needed and a good price at Lowe's. I used this box to hang my ceiling fan along with a truss brace.

Tricky assembly and not square

I noticed that some other reviewers stated the box holes did not align with the bracket holes. I experienced the same thing with the bracket in the old work position - a notched piece of metal kept the holes from lining up when the box is tight against the bracket. The trick was to start the screws while the box was lose against the bracket, then tighten the screws to pull the box in. It was confusing how this was going to work until I figured that out.
