I surface-mounted a Hubbell HBL9450A NEMA 14-50R outlet in this box with a Raco 888 cover. The cover sits on it such that its flange butts up flush with the box's side walls. It adds ~1/2" of depth. There was enough space to coil >6" of 6/3 Romex around the receptacle body. I used a Sigma 44665 clamp connector in the 3/4" knockout to secure the 6/3 Romex.

This was the actual junction box used up in an attic for some new wiring in a tight space. I love the size since it’s bigger than most and has plenty of room to work in. Got the job done and fit everything beautifully.

Had to fix a bad wiring job that someone else had done. This is one of the components I used. it made the job easy to complete and performed as expected.

Meets all my requirements

I needed an electrical junction box rated for household current with multiple openings for connecting conduit of possibly two different sizes. This was it. It meets all the NEC requirements with multiple possible openings. The ones on the side (3 to a side) can be opened for either 1/2 or 3/4-inch. The openings in the back allow for 4 openings with all 4 as 1/2-inch or 2 1/2-inch and 2 3/4-inch.

4 11/16 deep box

This 4 11/16 deep box that I purchased did not have 1/2 / 3/4 knock out’s on all four sides of the box. On two sides of the box the center knock outs are 1/2” only. This is less than ideal. When I purchase 4 11/16 boxes from the electrical supply houses they all have the 1/2 / 3/4 knock outs, three of each on all four sides. This is a much better configuration.

Quality box that includes grounding screw, just make sure to grab some grounding screws that fit.
