What Customers Are Saying
The product has mixed reviews. Some customers are satisfied with its performance and value, but many report reliability and durability issues, such as the generator failing within a short time. Common complaints include poor quality and high costs for installation and maintenance. Overall, the product seems prone to frequent breakdowns, and the customer service and repair experience is very poor, which outweighs the positive aspects.

I got this PowerPact generator (6KW Natural Gas) as I got tired of using a portable 5KW generator for the occasional times we lose power. Our home does not have any major electrical appliances (everything is NG), so 6KW provides enough power for the entire house as long as we are careful about not turning on too many appliances (like a toaster or coffee maker) at the same time. The price was reasonable and there was the added benefit of an 8 circuit automatic transfer switch (ATS). Some thing...
Happy with purchase
Yesterday 3/21/24 I had my 7.5w generator installed at my townhouse in Overland Park Kansas. I decided to get the generator in January after I lost power for the 2nd time in 6 months. I think it’s one of the best decisions I ever made for my home. Even though it is the smallest generator wattage it will work great for my townhome . It covers everything except my AC and stove and that’s fine with me since I live alone and don’t need much to survive if my power goes out. I know most people who hav...

NOT REALLY IMPRESSED
FIRST THERE WAS THE LISTING WHICH PRICED THIS UNIT OUT AT $1999, BUT IF YOU SCROLLED DOWN TO THE VIDEO BY DANNY LIPFORD HE STATES THE PRICE IS $1899. SAME LISTING BUT TWO PRICES. MOST OF THE RESIDENTIAL AUTO STANDBY GENERACS HAVE A LID THAT YOU CAN LIFT SIMILAR TO THAT OF A CHEST FREEZER. THEN A FRONT PANEL WHICH LIFTS OFF TO ACCESS THE OIL AND BATTERY. THIS LID REQUIRES THE REMOVAL OF FOUR ALLEN HEAD BOLTS BEFORE YOU CAN REMOVE THE LID. THEN TWO MORE ALLEN HEAD BOLTS TO REMOVE A CENTER PANEL FO...

Disappointed
I have installed every major electrical panel doing service changes and never had such tight main wire conditions as Generac, both panels. The main panel doesn't have any multiple ringed knockouts and the 2 that are there are poorly designed and the plug at the top is useless in most installations. The generator panel(s) are poorly designed with the main wiring connection to the circuit breaker being blind. The layout for the incoming wire grounding bar/neutral bar are horrible. Then you have a...

We have a problem
I had this unit installed yesterday by two electricians who have successfully installed several of your products. After the unit and switch was installed we tried to start the engine. Unfortunately we were unable to do so. We cannot get the controls to turn on. We checked switches, fuse and battery and could find no issues. This was after we had re3gistered the unit and received the pass code. But since we could not et the control panel to light up, we could not enter the code. We called the hel...

Bought one of these units 4 years ago now and the problems continue on the first one was a year ago just before warranty ran out the whole carburetor assembly fell of due to broken bolts on intake side now the oil switch has broken off after closer inspection someone at factory stripped one of the two screws so it was being held by only one and now the the bolts holding the carburetor assembly is lose again and I keep getting over rpm light that will not clear ,sped a little extra by a bet...

Works well but runs rough - expensive installation
Our standby generator runs about half of our summer lake home. The good: It starts right up. We're only out for 15 seconds max. The peace of mind knowing our kitchen, water, septic, furnace, bathroom, and plenty of outlets (TV, wifi, lights) will run uninterrupted is wonderful. It's come on twice in the past month. Flawless and way better than the baby Harbor Freight thing I used to use stringing extension cords through windows. The just so-so: It's a bit louder than I anticipated. Instal...

Lack of Support from Generac (New Purchase)
Just received our new 7.5 Kwat unit, for home standby use, Natural gas-powered unit. I went on-line and registered the new unit immediately. Hired an electrician with experience in installation of home standby generators. Hired authorized and experienced individual to make the natural gas piping. After everything was connected, the new unit failed to start! The electrician tripled checked all connections! All connections to natural gap triple checked! Still will not start!! Called GENERAC for as...

Not High Quality
Get what you pay for. I bought this same generator in 2005. Tried to use it 5 times and each time something else wrong. Poorly made. So when I finally gave up and decided to buy another generator, what did I do but buy another one the same as before! I have yet to install it (waited 5 months for delivery) but the case is cheap metal (why not plastic since my last one almost rusted away) and it arrived with several dents. I decided just to bang them back out since the metal is so easily ben...

Don't Waste Your Money
Don't let your electrician talk you into this model. After one year, it shuts down completely for maintenance. January in Wyoming is not the time for a generator to shut itself down. It has taken 6 months to get a certified Generac maintenance electrician to perform maintenance, IN the meantime, the system went to "wiring problem" light, then no lights at all. The mother board is fried in the darn thing. No I am working with a certified Generac repair electrician from another state, because ...
