Bought this washer in August 2023. Had a repairman in my home today. Of course the issue didn’t fall under the 10 year warranty, but the one that ended this year. Thankfully, I purchased the extended warranty that covered the issue. Buyer beware
3 Years and 2 major issues.
I’ve owned this washer for 3 years in its first year after the warranty expired the first time its circuit board completely failed(known issue amongst these washers.), 2 years after that the motor has and it no longer spins correctly.
DO NOT BUY
We have owned it just over a year it has gone down twice now, this time won't turn on stay on, flashing on & off. Last time flooded my laundry room. There is nothing the company is doing about this last time it took 7 hours to swap out the board and now we already need to do it again. Do not purchase this machine!! Also now lights keep flashing inside the machine attached video proof

Intermittent washer failures
Bought my washer/dryer set in May of 2024 and for the second time, I had to have a tech out since the washer randomly stops draining and prematurely ends the wash at the spin cycle. Soggy clothes that take hours to dry and a puddle in my laundry room is -not- a good experience for such an pricey investment. Broke after 4 years
The GFW850SPN4RS was not a good purchase. After 2 and half years the board failed. Just yesterday, the service repair person told me my motor burned out. Absolute trash model. I’ve been doing laundry for decades and never needed a washer repaired. I have to say the dryer is a beast. So, at least I only need to replace the washer. Ugh!

Big Mistake
This machine has broken on twice in the 2 years of owning it. Loved the features and size but like all GE products I’ve owned, keeps breaking. First year I had to replace the pump, I purchased warranty through Lowe’s and had difficulty scheduling and getting a technician here. I read I could get it repaired then file the claim but it was denied. Cost me $538. Now, it’s possibly something with main control board but also the inverter. Breaks down quickly
Just after 18 months of use, the machine started making a very loud scraping sound during the spin cycle. After I called GE for advice, they stated that there’s nothing they could do because I didn’t purchase the warranty.

DO NOT BUY
So we bought this as it was at a great price at the time, and based on the reviews, felt pretty confident in our purchase. 2 years in, and the lock mechanism failed, like total failure, like we couldn't get our clothes out, failure. Doing some research on the web, this is a known issue, the lock mechanism failing after a year or two, and a tech call costs around $300 to fix. Didn't last two years
The washer has a mind of its own. There are days where the computer system just doesn't work- washer won't spin or just shuts off mid cycle leaving a pool of soaking wet clothes. Other days it seems to work fine. Whether or not I can actually do laundry is up to the mood of the washing machine. Ive tried everything to fix it. Good luck getting any warranty service.
