We bought this washer in December 23’, it now has a failed motor board and is not repairable. This is our second GE washer. I love the size and convenience of the dispenser. It is unfortunate that it has not lasted longer. I would love to be able to try one more but I don’t think it should be out of my pocket.
Unfortunate Failure
Great washer, nice appearance, multiple functions... Unfortunate failure of main computer board that was not covered by any warranty. Unit GFW850SPN2RS SN MS307710N was just coming up on fourth birthday. Had expected many more years of service, but no dice. Cost of repair was nearly 75% of original purchase. Stayed with GE and replaced with matching unit - the PFW870SPV0RS SN GD325465N. Did not need the additional expense at this time, but who ever does.

3 years old and washer needs new inverter board but tech (ge certified) said may not fix problem cuz he thinks the motor needs replacing also based on codes, suggests buy a new one as cost to repair would be just as expensive.

Designed to fail with prevention
Found out that this machine has two different boards and one of them needs to be replaced at year 4. Costing about 50% value of a new machine with service charge, parts, and labor. What’s really disappointing is that there’s no way to prevent the boards from failing. We can do everything right and it’s still out of our control. It can fail again month from now. We will never purchase GE appliances again.

Great machine the first year
The first year we had this machine I loved the capacity, the odor guard and the tank to hold laundry soap. We have had to replace the control panel 3 times. One repair person said it’s a known issue, one said cheaper to buy and new one and buy the extended warranty. Didn’t last long; not worth money
I have had this washer for approximately 2 to 3 years and it has already broke down. I have spent the last eight weeks with an appliance service trying to fix this item and they have installed three control panels, a new door lock, and a new motor and my washer is still not working. I paid so much money for this washer and for to last such a short period of time, it was not worth my money. Once one issue begun, additional issues have a rose.

Really liked the washing machine when it was installed in our new construction house.
