This powerstack battery is excellent. It has great runtime and power. I also like how the battery life indicator lights stay on for a little bit after checking it. It doesn't work for my vacuum but it's not a deal breaker since I have other batteries that will work on it.

Garbage
You are lucky if these batteries last a year. They just stop accepting a charge. They show no life on the fuel bar even if I t was fully charged when you put it away. The small ones work great but would not recommend these.

Best of both worlds: peak power and capacity.
I have used the much smaller 1.7Ah POWERSTACK batteries for over a year now and love the power delivered to even large tools given their small size and light weight: despite not lasting as long as similar Ah cylindrical celled batteries. This is expected as tools that can draw more power from these lower impedance flat stack batteries WILL drain the batteries faster. I was skeptical at first, but after a few VERY demanding jobs, it's clear these are an entirely new generation of battery technology - similar to what's used in laptops and drones. The amount of power these batteries can dump into a tool is borderline scary. In some cases it's probably more than a plug-in outlet. And they're light. And they're tough. These are bigger batteries then the 1.7Ah Power Stack 20V Max. I have a few of the power hungry tools by DeWalt SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer Drill, Power Detect Stud Joist Drill, XR Impact Wrench. I am renovating and maintaining a chalet in Switzerland without the availability of electricity. 20V POWERSTACK doesn't fit all DeWalt 20V tools
Please be aware that the 20V MAX POWERSTACK battery does not fit all 20V DeWalt tools. I bought two 5Ah POWERSTACK batteries to replace the original 20V MAX battery. However, they do not fit into the battery slots of my DCV581H Vacuum or DCE511B Fan. The POWERSTACK batteries are slightly wider in dimensions and cannot snap into place to connect battery terminals.

Worth the extra dough
The DeWalt 5AH powerstacks are excellent batteries. I already own a handful of traditional lithium batteries for my 20v tools, so what I wanted to know was if these ran cooler and/or with more consistent high output. So far, both of those appear to be true. I'm a DIYer, so this will probably be my last battery purchase for a long while, and I'm glad I paid the extra for powerstacks over more traditional lithium-based battery packs.
Can't go wrong with Dewalt
I bought my first Dewalt power tool set about 10 years ago. I've been building out my set ever since. Everything I've bought from Dewalt has been great and really performed on the job. I honestly wouldn't go with any other tool brand. These batteries are just the latest addition. A little expensive, but great run time! Just be sure to watch the price and look from promotions. Especially with the holidays coming up.
